EUPHORIAS ID—MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH KISSING Legit 19 track reissue documenting their two mega rare 1966 singles reissued on the New England Teen Scene CD. Includes unissued material by this legendary southern Maine garage band as well as a bunch of tracks from their earlier incarnation as the Nomads. $16. EYES—THE ARRIVAL OF THE EYES New! Legendary UK first generation mod band with reckless Who vibe. Reish includes their complete 28-track studio output including their awesome 5-song “My Degeneration” EP, all 4 fab singles, bonus unreleased and alternate versions, plus the entire Pupils album (which was the Eyes under a pseudonym—get it?) doing 12 kick-ass Rolling Stones remakes. GOLDENROD—S/T 1969 CA guitar/bass/drums power trio featuring studio legends Jerry Scheff, Toxy French, and Ben Benay. Legit reish of their sought after LP plus bonus alternate mono mixes wrapped in a nice booklet with interview/pix. Super heavy psych instrumental Cream sound that includes a tripped-out version of the Millennium’s “Karmic Dream Sequence.” $18 GRODES (TONGUES OF TRUTH)/DEARLY BELOVED—LET’S TALK ABOUT GIRLS Timeless 28-track overview circa 1964–’68 of two legendary Tucson AZ garage bands. Hear the Grodes original version of the Chocolate Watch Band classic! Super archival booklet with loads of photos and interviews with bandmates. $16. PETER GRUDZIEN—THE UNICORN Legit reissue of his mega collectable 14 track Outsider folk LP from the early 1970s plus six bonus tracks. Definitely in the league of troubled songsmiths like Syd Barret, Skip Spence, and Roky Erickson. Out of print, but I just scored 10 more copies. $18. MARGO GURYAN—TAKE A PICTURE New! Elusive and extraordinary femme pop psych album from 1968 which sank without a trace that’s jam packed with brilliant arrangements, breathy sexy vocals, and songwriting in the vein of Eternities Children, Curt Boettcher, and The Mamas & the Papas (FYI Margo wrote Spanky & Our Gang’s hit “Sunday Morning” and her magical version is included here). Gorgeous legit package from the mastertapes with notes and pix galore that includes her entire 11-track LP plus 3 worthy bonus cuts. Oh yeah, the original disc was produced by John Hill who was the brains behind the Riders of the Mark 45 (but that’s another story). $16. * MARGO GURYAN—25 DEMOS New! Lovely collection of her polished demo recordings featuring alternative versions of most of her “Take A Picture” LP plus lots more stellar unissued tracks. These have a stripped-down production but her genius songwriting and lyricism shine through and her breathy voice is reminiscent of a female Colin Blunstone. This is the perfect compliment to her legendary album with 16 of the tracks from the ’60s, 9 from the ’70s, plus one from 2000 (although that song dates back to 1966!) First-rate package with informative notes and lyrics. $16. * HAUNTED—S/T Stunning 20-track collection of Montreal's top '66 garage export. Includes two versions of their classic "1-2-5" plus their entire LP and bonus trax. $14. HEAD SHOP—S/T Legit reissue with groovy booklet of druggy NY 1969 LP plus 7 bonus cuts. Group features Milan and is totally over-the-top with psych attitude, true aural dementia, and massive experimentation. Fans of United States of America and Fifty Foot Hose will cream over this! $18 HERBAL MIXTURE—PLEASE LEAVE MY MIND Melodic UK '66 mod psych with six non-LP Groundhogs trax w/TS McPhee. $14. RANDY HOLDEN—EARLY WORKS 1964-'66 Fine Japanese 13-track overview of ex-Other Half/Blue Cheer guitarist's early singles featuring the surf-walloping Fendermen IV and his boss punk garage combo Sons of Adam plus unreleased. Tuff! $16. ID—THE INNER SOUNDS OF THE ID Legit reissue of amazing 1966–’67 California acid garage LP plus 10 bonus songs. Contains fabulous tracks including “The Rake,” “Wild Times,” “Short Circuit,” plus the epic Eastern-influenced 10-minute “Inner Sounds of the Id” massively messed-up cut. $18 IMMIGRANTS 12-track reissue from big ticket garage LP from 1966 done by Kansas Weslian students. Good mix of boss covers (Animals/Beatles/Zombies/etc) plus rockin originals. $14. |
